Description
The jacket photo of "Bang Bang" makes the most of the mod or "now sound" and other trends. First, a model resembling Emma Peel in a Mondrian-inspired sundress and spy shades is holding a "space gun" laser pistol. The titles appear in jagged-edged balloons like the "Pow" and "Biff" balloons on the old Batman television series. All of this contributes to the scarcity of the album, no doubt. The first side is mildly exotic cocktail fare, nothing too exciting. Side Two opens with a cover of "These Boots Were Made for Walking," a tune the scandalized Abbe Lane might have sung to him years earlier. The mod sound continues and evolves into Walter Wanderly-style samba; the organ in Henry Mancini's "Charade" is a particularly nice touch. "Spanish Eyes" is listed on the glorious jacket but is left off the LP. It is available on at least one compilation album, however.
