Hafiz Ahmed was an amazing vocal master of 1920s, 30s to 40s.. of course coming from religious music training, as seen here, he also recorded non religious music and was hailed as one of the most masterful tenors of his time. He was a master in the gazel (or ghazal) form which was improvisational vocal singing over a set makam (modal line). Please see the labels for song/gazel details.
