We’re having a bit of a clearout of stuff at home so I’ve put my usual eBay sales of art and ephemera mostly to one side for a couple of weeks. I’ve got a large personal collection of vinyl, lots of which I don’t play any more, so one of the things we will be selling is records. This week I’m listing a small number of reggae and ska records.
There are two Prince Buster singles here. Both are original issues of tracks that are very difficult to find now, especially Vagabond which is vanishingly rare.
There is however, a drawback, as you would expect, since I am offering both these records together one lot. Both are in pretty poor condition. Vagabond is heavily scratched on both sides, has a push-in centre and a label that has been written on both sides. Shaking Up On Orange Street is also in disappointing condition. It is has lighter scratches to the playing surface but lots and lots of them.
On the plus side, both records play all the way through on both sides on my deck although they are of course very crackly. I am offering them here, mainly because I know that there are plenty of record collectors who would rather have a poor copy of a very rare record than none at all. Examples like this are effectively place-holders in a collection until a better example turns up.
I therefore offer them entirely on this basis. Please don’t convince yourself that they might be better than I have described. Expect the worst and you won’t be disappointed. These will definitely look better in your record box than they will sound on your record deck.
