Description

2 rare early pressings of The Beatles 'Love Me Do / P.S. I Love You' 1960s Parlophone black centre label single.

Firstly the 2nd pressing, which is denoted by 'The Parlophone Co. Ltd' upper and lower case text around the centre perimeter, 'Recording first published 1962' on the centre label, and the '-1N' suffix on the run out groove.

There is no Sold in U.K. text.

'K' and 'T' either side of the centre on the 'B' side.

Catalogue number R 4949.

This record is a definite very good grade as per the Record Collector grading system with very good sound quality throughout.

Visually very good, with just a few very light marks.

The run out matrix numbers are 7XCE 17144-1N on side 1, and 7XCE 17145-1N on side 2.

The single comes in the company sleeve with 'Use Emitex Cleaning Material' and 'Read the Record Mail' on the back and research tells me this is the correct sleeve for this pressing.

Just very slight marking on the centre label on the 'A' side where a  small circular label has been removed, and this is visible in the picture.

This single is the one on the left as you look at the picture.

Secondly, what the Record Collector Price Guide describes as the 3rd pressing although I have seen it described as a 4th pressing on various specialist Beatles websites. The single on the right on my pictures.

It has 'THE PARLOPHONE CO. LTD.' text in fully upper case around the centre label.

Also on the centre label are the 'SOLD IN U.K......' text, 'Recording first published1962', and 'K' 'T' either side of the centre hole on side one. The word 'PARLOPHONE' at the top of the centre label is slightly truncated compared to earlier pressings.

The run out matrix numbers are 7XCE 17144-1N on side one and 7XCE 17145-1N on the other side.

Again, the catalogue number for this pressing is R 4949.

The record itself is visually nice and clean..................however what I need to point out is that the record does have a somewhat warped appearance and as a result sometimes I can get it to play with a fair bit of up and down movement, sometimes it plays and the sound drags a little, and sometimes I can't get it to play at all.

For the purposes of this auction please consider that you are bidding on my first described record i.e. the 2nd pressing and that this 3rd pressing is included as very rare collection filler that might not play. I always ensure I'm totally honest in my description.

I've had this record for around 15 years and believe it to be in it's original company sleeve, especially as the sleeve has the catalogue number 4949 written on the front as record shops often did in the 1960s/1970s.

It's quite an unusual Parlophone sleeve, the wavy cut at the top and the 'BIG M' Miners Make Up Ltd. advert on the rear.

The sleeve is in very good condition.

As always, a money back guarantee is offered on safe return of the records in case of disappointment.

Only UK bids thanks, as I would rather not post overseas and any other questions, please ask.

Postage will be £2.75 by 1st class Royal Mail Recorded Delivery based on the records selling for under £50. If they sell for over £50 Special Next Day Delivery post would be used and postal costs would then be £6.50.
