Original 1927 copy of these classic Country String Band sides. With some top notch mandolin pickin'. Recorded 21 March 1927 in Atlanta, GA. 
"The band took its name from the cotton mill village of Scottdale, located between Decatur and Clarkston in DeKalb County, Georgia. String bands without fiddles, groups of mandolins, banjos, and guitars, in varying combinations, were quite well represented on records in those years. But the Scottdale String Band’s extensive and diverse legacy of sparkling performances ranging from ragtime tunes and popular songs to waltzes, breakdowns, and blues, sets them apart from their contemporaries".

artist:  Scottdale String Band titles:  Stone Mountain Wobble  /  Carbolic Rag year:  1927 label:  Okeh ?– 45118    deadwax:  w80599B   A-1   /   W80600B   B-4 condition:  (grading is from 1 to 10 with 10 being new) visually: 6 out of 10  (a bunch of mostly light scratches and scuffs / surface dulling/playwear)  plays: 6 out of 10 (a bit more noise on the first 15/20 seconds, from then on it plays very nice) Looks  V+   plays about V for the first 15/20 seconds then a nice strong E-      Do note that these 78s are all recorded with a modern Stanton USB turntable. The Stanton is a expensive motha but really sounds like crap! All these sound so much better on our old early 60s Lenco player. The Stanton makes all the ticks and crackle sound worse and more metalic. (Maybe I should have noted this earlier when listing stuff like the Dock Boggs and Louie Lasky 78s).
