We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +22,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. ORIGINAL 1967 FIRST PRINT Vancouver CANADA had a happening Rock and R&B music scene near the pre-psychedelic trend setting USA 1960s / 1967 still ruled with fiery garage-rock & garage-soul primitive jammers.
Bands like "The Nocturnals" and "The Vancouvers" managed to chart across their country, and many others were big draws in their local areas.
Numerous live music clubs, halls, & venues popped up to fill the seemingly insatiable demand in the local youth culture, and Live! From the GrooveYard is a classic recording - captured in the period of 1967. The groups preforming are exclusive only to this rare/limited '67 release.
From the GrooveYard "Live!" is a valuable collection addition as the limited '67 DOUBLE LP release.
The album was even also released as a limited edition CD some 22 years ago. Now very rare...
SEVERAL unknown GARAGE & PSOUL ROCK BANDS involved are highly motivated and competent in their needs to succeed and the music has a special (USA) Northwest "garage rock" sound.
The Stags for instance do a fine cover of The Wailers' "Out Of Our Tree" as well as a charming version of The Byrds' "It Won't Be Wrong", while "The Shockers" could easily find place on any USA "Northwest Battle Of The Bands" roster and 'The Shantelles' blasting "Have Love Will Travel" leans more towards The Sonics take than to the original (in a smooth way).
From The Grooveyard "Live!" is a historic collectible, the hip-shaking bands remain an entertaining listen through all four sides, keeping interest in coming back to.
Despite its name, the music on this double album was actually recorded at "West Broadway studio" and the “live” sound was a looped in the recording from a West 4th hippie club called "Afterthought."
45 years ago an article pointed out the musical rivalry between garage soul/R&B and the Stones/Beatles garage rock comes across lively on this record
"Live! From the GrooveYard" was produced to promote the teen dance club 'GrooveYard' at 759 Carnarvon in New Westminster, Canada.
A Vancouver Canada "GrooveYard" also operated briefly on Davie Street in the old Embassy Ballroom, which later became 'Retinal Circus,' Dante’s Inferno, and Celebrities nightclub. Tommy Chong (of Cheech & Chong} operated a liquor club in the basement called the Elegant Parlour. One night in 1965, The Supremes visited the club and were sufficiently impressed with Chong’s band, The Vancouvers, that they helped get them a record deal on Motown Records. Bobby Taylor heading the Vancouvers later did the same for the Jackson 5
It's hard to believe that New Westminster Canada was heart of the R&B Scene, but it was in the mid 60's, and IKE AND TINA TURNER played there! As did MARVIN GAYE, ETTA JAMES, LITTLE JUNIOR PARKER, THE SPINNERS, and BO DIDDLEY, as well as hot Northwest groups THE KINGSMEN, PAUL REVERE AND THE RAIDERS, DON AND THE GOODTIMES, and even THE SONICS.
Most importantly, The Grooveyard featured some of Vancouver's hottest acts a stage and, on some very special evenings, you could see up to ten live bands and dance 'til you dropped. It just didn't get any better.
This original Grooveyard album was the brainchild of Les Vogt, manager, concert promoter, rockabilly performer, and owner of the Grooveyard. He thought the album would generate more publicity for the club and the bands in his management stable. He took his idea to musician and song writer Tom Northcott and local entrepreneur Jack Herschorn at their offices, where they operated "New Syndrome Records", the Gooveyard Lp's eventual record label release.
All the songs on the album were recorded and engineered by Robin Spurgin at his studio. Recorded in late 1966, released in 1967, original pressings of the double album were limited to only 1000 copies (making this a highly sought album in sixties record collector rock circles, some 60 years later).
