Review (bezieht sich auf das Reissue, zum Verkauf steht das 1994er Original)

Simon Joyner's first proper album, THE COWARDLY TRAVELLER PAYS HIS TOLL, was originally issued in 1994, displaying a lo-fi, indie-rock urgency that added a visceral edge to to Joyner's poetic, Leonard Cohen-esque songcraft. It was legendarily given an unprecedented boost by BBC DJ John Peel, who famously played it from start to finish on his show. With 14 years in the taillights, Joyner has become the godfather of the Bright Eyes-centered Omaha scene, and the album's been reissued, giving a wider audience a chance to absorb Joyner's powerful lyricism and low-key but intense delivery on a batch of songs that show the Bob Dylan of the indie world just beginning to come into his own.
