Description
Blaxploitation or blacksploitation is an ethnic subgenre of the exploitation film. It emerged in the United States in the early 1970s. Blaxploitation films were originally made specifically for an urban black audience, but the genre's audience appeal soon broadened across racial and ethnic lines. The Los Angeles National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) head and ex-film publicist Junius Griffin coined the term, which is a portmanteau of the words "black" and "exploitation." Blaxploitation films were the first to regularly feature soundtracks of funkand soul music and primarily black casts.

1) BLACK CAESAR (1973) – (Polydor (S) – PD-8014) Original soundtrack of American Internation motion picture release. Music score composed by James Brown and Fred Wesley. Performed by James Brown. Written, produced and directed by Larry Cohen. Starring: Fred Williamson. Black Caesar, is a 1973 American blaxploitation, crime drama film, starring Fred Williamson, Gloria Hendry and Julius Harris. Black Caesar is a remake of the 1931 film Little Caesar. It features a notable musical score (Black Caesar) by James Brown (with heavy input from his bandleader Fred Wesley), his first experience with writing music for film. 2) BLACULA (1972) – (RCA Victor – LSP-4806) Music from the original soundtrack American International motion picture. Music composed & conducted by Gene Page.Written by Joan Torres & Raymond Koenig. Directed by William Crain. Starring: William Marshall, Denise Nichlas, Vonetta McGee, Gordon Pinsent,Thalmus Rasulala, Emily Yancy. Blacula is a 1972 American blaxploitation horror film and stars William Marshall in the title role about an 18th-century African prince named Mamuwalde, who is turned into a vampire and later locked in a coffin by Count Dracula. Two centuries later, the now-undead Mamuwalde rises from his coffin attacking various residents in modern day Los Angeles. Mamuwalde later meets Tina (Vonetta McGee), a woman he believes to be the reincarnation of his deceased wife Luva. Directed by Gordon Parks, Jr. Starring: Ron O’Neal, Carl Lee, Julius Harris, Sheila Frazier, Charles McGregor. Super Fly is a 1972 blaxploitation, crime drama film starring Ron O'Neal as Youngblood Priest, an African American cocaine dealer who is trying to quit the underworld drug business. This film is known for its soundtrack, written and produced by soul singer Curtis Mayfield. Super Fly is one of the few films ever to have been outgrossed by its soundtrack.
