Description
Three 16-inch Keystone Broadcasting System vinyl records with nos. 869, 870, 873, 874, 875 and 876 of the comedy radio program Pick and Pat Time which was the summer replacement for Lum and Abner. The dates handwritten on the labels indicate these were played in August and September of 1945. These were never for sale to the public and were sent to radio stations for specific air dates. Turntables to accommodate them were not publicly available, though Newcomb built a transcription player for commercial use. Many were made to promote government programs or provide military information or recruitment. In addition to military use, these huge discs were widely used for radio station commercials. Shows wear and scratches but none appear deep enough to prevent play. The record with side 876 shows water damage to the label which has not affected the vinyl, but the paper label was damaged.
