Description
This lot contains three Columbia 10-inch 78 RPM records featuring country singer Riley Puckett (one of them also featuring Bob Nichols, aka Clayton McMichen). In the order shown in the pictures, they are:
Columbia # 15139-D is "Down in Arkansas" and "Jack and Joe" by Riley Puckett.
Columbia # 15125-D is "Put My Little Shoes Away" and "Take Me Back to My Old Carolina Home" by Riley Puckett.
Columbia # 15095-D is "I'm Drifting Back to Dreamland" by Riley Puckett; and "My Carolina Home" by Riley Puckett and Bob Nichols.
According to Tony Russell's "Country Music Records" discography, they were recorded on various dates in 1926.
They all look to be in heavily played condition, not very shiny, and with visible surface scuffs and scratches, and the first one even has a pressure line that looks like it could turn into a full-blown hairline crack if you don't treat it with care. All six sides play through without skipping or repeating on my Audio-Technica turntable, but with audible background hiss and some scattered pops and clicks or ticking. Because of variations in tracking ability, filtering technology and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well they will play on your equipment.
