This record is from a wonderful collection of classical records that I have acquired recently. There will be lots of rare Stereo and Mono records being listed over the coming weeks so please have a look. This will include some rare ED1 Decca SXL, HMV ASD and Columbia SAX records. ALL RECORDS ARE VISUALLY GRADED ONLY UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED.
Record- EX I have not done a complete audio grading of this record purely as I am sure the winning bidder would prefer to have it cleaned properly first. I have however listened to short sections to ascertain the audio clarity and I am please to inform that in the sections that I have listened are crisp and bright. There is a small mark that creates a small series of faint ticks for approximately 14 revolutions, some of them are harder to hear and is more noticeable in quieter parts. There is some other very slight background noise in places that is very occasional and very minimal and is probably expected from this record, after all it is an unaccompanied violin sonata. It generally sounds great and clear and was an absolute joy to listen to. Crucially it had no noticeable static or crackle. So on the whole this record sounds absolutely fantastic. This is obviously subjective but from what I have heard for the most part, it is a clean and clear and crisp a sound as I have heard from a classical lp from this era.
The record is in beautiful, clean, bright condition and retains a wonderful gloss both sides. Both sides are generally for the most part unmarked and clear. But there are an occasional few light surface marks in places and a couple of faint light hairlines, non of which are feelable. There is a mark that creates a very small section of ticks as mentioned above. I am happy to grade this as a strong EX, the majority of the surface appears unmarked and in superb condition. The few light marks only very occasionally effect the play back so on the whole an incredibly rare record.
I am sure some would grade higher but I always try to be cautions so as to exceed the winning bidders expectations. Whilst I have graded this at EX, the Audio (from what I have listened to) I feel exceeds this grading and I am sure you will not be disappointed with this wonderfully rare record.
Sleeve- VG+ Generally clean and bright with some light surface marks, some light discolouraition/toning in places and a few handling crease marks. The edges are a little worn and a little rubbed in places generally around the spine area, there is some light surface loss around the spine titles and there is a small 2cm split on the bottom opening corner. Despite these marks the sleeve remains quite clean and bright. I have taken numerous photos so that you have a visual of the condition.
