description:
7th volume in this series documenting German modern and avant garde postwar music with many previously unreleased recordings. Each volume has cover art by a major German artist, here the Fluxus artist Mary Bauermeister (Stockhausen's wife). The recording of Stockhausen's Stimmung experimental vocal piece is different from the more readily available DGG one; this was made in 1982 by Collegium Vocale Koln under the direction of the composer. Among other notable performers, Henze conducts both of his works, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau performs in Hartmann's piece, and the Fritsch performance features Bernhard Kontarsky on piano and Siegfried Palm on cello. Includes 40+ page booklet with multilingual notes.

artist info from album notes etc.:
