The LEO was the first computer ever used for business applications in 1951. Modelled closely on the

Cambridge EDSAC it was constructed for J. Lyons & Co. and ran a program called "Bakery Valuations". 

This enabled them to calculate the costs of the ingredients that went into the bread and cakes produced

at the Lyons factory at Cadby Hall, West London.

The BBC used these computer sound effects on a multitude of programmes during the 1950s, 60s and 70s,

Most notably it provided the sounds for Wotan in the 1966 William Hartnell Doctor Who story

"The War Machines"
