CAL TJADER

These albums by Cal Tjader are a must for the serious jazz collector.  There are 4 albums in this auction, produced from 1956 to 1987. 

These albums are from an extensive collection of early jazz albums that I am selling for a Vermont client, so look back often to take advantage of a wonderful collection. 

I take a lot of pictures as they tend to show the condition better than I can describe them.  Be sure and check out the pictures and ask for more if there is something specific you want to see. 

1.    CAL TJADER - PLAYS MAMBO - 1956 FANTASY LP - 3221 - MONO 

RECORD - graded Good - deep groove

has a few scratches and scuffs including some that can be felt with a fingernail   

labels are both in VG condition with marks around spindle hole, there is a couple faded spots on the top of the labels on the "Fantasy" letters (see pictures).   

The runout areas (deadwax) have the correct markings:

SIDE 1 (V-5998-1608) 

SIDE 2  (V-5998-1609)    


COVER - graded Very Good+ 

laminate has some chipping - no writing or price sticker on the cover - no splits on seams - opening edge has some chipping (see pictures) - some bumping and chipping on corners (see pictures)

2.     CAL TJADER QUINTET - 1956 - FANTASY 3232 - MONO

RECORD - graded Good to Very Good - Deep Groove MONO

has some light scratches and scuffs but they don't affect the listening experience.

labels are both in good condition - some paper loss around spindle holes and some scratch areas on labels especially side 1 (see pictures)

The runout areas (deadwax) have the correct markings:

SIDE 1 (V-5998-1622)

SIDE 2 (V-5998-1623)

COVER - Graded Good 

laminate on front has some areas of loss - rear is paper over laminate - no writing on the cover - seam splits are as follows: 3/8" bottom near opening, bottom corner 3/8" near spine, 1 1/2" top of spine, 5/8" top seam near opening - some edge chipping and corner bumping (see pictures) 
 

3.     CAL TJADER - MAS RITMOS CALIENTE  - 1958 FANTASY 3262

RECORD - graded Good  

has some scratches and scuffs, a few that can be felt with your fingernails but they don't affect the listening experience.

the deadwax area of side 1 has a few bubbles above "Fantasy"

labels are both in good condition - some wear and paper loss around spindle hole (see pictures) - each label has a line depression that runs from the spindle hole to the outside edge of the label

The runout areas (deadwax) have the correct markings:

SIDE 1 (F-1706)

SIDE 2 (F-1707)

COVER - Graded Very Good

Laminate on front cover with some chips in laminate along edges (see pictures) -  back cover has paper sheet attached over laminate - no writing or stickers on cover - 1/2" seam split bottom seam next to opening - some edge chipping and corner bumping (see pictures) 

4.     CAL TJADER CONCERT ON THE CAMPUS  -  1987 - FANTASY OJC-279 - REISSUE

RECORD - graded Very Good+ 

has minimal light scratches and scuffs but they don't affect the listening experience.  

labels are both in excellent condition - very light wear around spindle holes (see pictures)

The runout areas (deadwax) have the correct markings:

SIDE 1 (OJC 279 A1) (G1)  (A) (A8)

SIDE 2 (OJC 279 B1) (G1) (A)

COVER - Graded Very Good

plastic covering has shrunk back from the open edge - no writing or price stickers on cover - seams intact - some edge chipping and corner bumping (see pictures)

These albums play with no distortion, skipping or other major audible defects (except for album 5) light surface noise (dust/static) but never anything that interferes with the music quality.

CLEANING

I do a cautionary cleaning only, some light brushing with an approved audio carbon fiber brush and minimal use of audio cleaning solution if warranted. I do not professionally clean my records, I leave that up to the new owners.

GRADING

I utilize the industry standard for grading, Goldmine's, and I tend to grade conservatively.


PACKING
All records are shipped outside their covers, in new sleeves, packed between 2 sturdy corrugated cardboard flats and mailed in an approved record mailer.
