Description
This lot contains four 10-inch 78 rpm records featuring Paul Williams, all on the Savoy label, and pictured in the following order:
Savoy # 758 -- "Jeep's Blues" and "Paul's Boogie" by Paul Williams Hucklebuckers.
Savoy # 683 -- "The Huckle-Buck" and "Hoppin' John" by Paul Williams and his Hucklebuckers.
Savoy # 721 -- "Cranberries" and "Juice Bug Boogie" by Paul Williams.
Savoy # 670 -- "Spider Sent Me" and "Waxey Maxieie" by Paul Williams Sextette.
They all play through without skipping or repeating on my Audio-Technica turntable, but with varying degrees of background noise. The first one grades solidly in the VG+ range or better, still beautifully shiny and very little visible surface wear of any significance. The others are in a lesser condition, with constant hiss throughout "The Huckle-Buck", and lesser background noise on the other five sides, but still some pops and clicks and passages of ticking. The last one even has a hairline crack, but it's still tight enough that I didn't notice it until after I'd played it. Because of variations in tracking ability, filtering technology and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well they will play on your equipment.
