Description
Up for auction is an album of four 78 rpm jazz records on Savoy Records recorded in 1944. It's titled 'Tenor Sax' and features Coleman Hawkins, Lester Young, Ben Webster & Don Byas.
The sides are:
Savoy #550 - Coleman Hawkins with Cozy Cole's All Stars (Foots Thomas, Eddie Barefield, Emmett Berry, Johnny Guarnieri, Sid Weiss) - On The Sunny Side Of The Street / Stompin' At The Savoy. E- with great gloss and good sound. Clean record.
Savoy #551 - Lester Young & Rhythm Section - I Don't Stand A Ghost Of A Chance / Lester's Savoy Jump. VG+ with good gloss and great sound. Has light marks. Has 2 inaudible lines...NOT cracks...that can be seen but not felt with a finger nail...still smooth. Does not affect play in any way.
Savoy #552 - Don Byas with Charlie Shavers, Slam Stewart, Clyde Hart, Jimmy Parker - Don's Idea / What Do You Want With My Heart. VG+ with great gloss and great sound. Has 1 inaudible line...NOT crack...that can be seen but not felt with a finger nail...still smooth. Does not affect play in any way.
Savoy #553 - Ben Webster with Johnny Guarnieri, Oscar Pettiford, David Booth - Honeysuckle Rose / Blue Skies. VG with good gloss and sound. Has light marks and scuffs.
The album is frayed and the spine has about 1.5" piece missing at the bottom. Loose binding but still functional with no push throughs or seam-splits on the sleeves.
Just came into a huge stash of early rock & roll / rhythm & blues 78s from a recent 78 hunting trip through the deep south.

Grading System:
- NM = near new condition
- E = barely played, extremely close to near new condition
- VG = played, but not abused condition, should play very well, may have light scratches, scuffs
- G = well played, but should play pretty well, will have deeper scratches, scuff; may have some background noise, scratches, scuffs, wear
- P = well used, pretty bad condition, lots of background noise
