dransfield uk polydor folk mill first pressing, considered by many collectors to be one of the finest british folk rock lps. its a really hard lp to find, one of the rarest major label prog folk lps.
grading is - cover / disc
vg++/vg- the disc plays ok with minor background surface noise in places, no bad repeat clicks. it does have light surface marks as if it was left out of the sleeve now and then by a previous owner. it is listenable and a loud polydor cut. the cover looks EX, a sticker tear top right has been professionally restored with perfect colour matching which is hard to see unless you tilt the lp in the light, see last photo (6) its a close up of the restoration,( it was done by a museum trained restorer not an amateur with felt tips which should never be used on lp covers.) the restoration is why iv e downgraded it despite its near perfect appearance. the sleeve is a thin delicately textured fragile beast that is usually very worn, this isnt, it looks fab, but the incredibly thin spine has worn. i used to own a near mint one and the spine was the same. anyway this is one of the essential uk underground folk lps to file with cob, mellow candle, vashti bunyan, and hopefully ive been very clear about condition so it may sell for less than its worth and could be an ideal chance to get it at a sane price. wonderful british/irish folk lp, recommended.
ive listed around 60 rare progressive, psych, folk and blues lps on ebay in a big clear out, please click other items if interested to see them all. they are all getting harder to find as the years go by, and prices and demand seems to have gone stratospheric.
all are 1st pressings, original uk editions.
all lps are placed in period/vintage plain paper inner sleeves. any generic polylined inner sleeves have been discarded as they are unsafe and damage lps, as per the policy of many serious collectors. old pvc lined inners are ageing, chemically unstable, and sticking to lps, paper inners are the only currently known way to avoid it. vertigo inners are retained and sent outside the covers to avoid damaging contact.
most photos show the fronts, backs, spine and labels so cover condition is fully visible in the photos.
lps listed include sam apple pie, hungry wolf, gerry lockran, mike westbrook love songs, shape of the rain, cressida, idle race, five day week straw people, dransfield, fuschia, rockin horse, gentle giant, and the now very rare aubrey small lp with insert.
grading is mainly visual, all the lps have been fully or partly tested mainly on the run in and first tracks, and any visible defects have been played through to see if theres any audible results.
tested on lenco/cyrus/tannoy 60s/70s equipment.
