Description

spirogyra - bells boots and shamble, 1st german edition 1973, released same time as the uk edition, maybe earlier as with leaf hound. i think techncally this is the supreme masterpiece of rock music full stop. it needs the right mood, i cant listen to it every day, or when im reading, it requires a darkened room and solitude. for me their first two lps are dire, i cant listen to them, the citizen smith style political rantings and overemphasized working class accents...but here, it all enters a different dimension and the music is genuinely sublime. it must be dolly collins who did it. ithink she put everyone intheir place, told the bloke to calm down, told the girl to just let go...and for the first time ontheir lps barbara gaskin gets to sing properly, and by the dark lord himself, what a f*cking revelation. the combination of the male sneering sarcastic neo political neo philosophical subterranean bile suddenly ending and gaskins voice just emerging like the birth of the universe, or a supernova of exploding light spreading unstoppably with absolute calm throughout darkness. utterly exquisite. many people say cob - moyshe is the greatest lp ever made, to me its portentuous contrived tosh with annoying faked melancholia, this here slab of toxic plastic is the true godlike work of accidental genius in all rock history. its folk. its prog. its unique. its a bunch of long haired twits somehow accidentally stumbling upon a state of grace, and recording it. there are moments that are transcendental. that touch the face of creation. its an accident, or its dolly collins. she worked on the production. with her portative pipe organ. a sensible strait-laced lady with an english cottage and decent meals on a sunday. i bet she reined in the hippy egos and made this lp happen.  this is my playing copy and near perfect bar an inscription on the front cover. the audio is fabulous for this lp. i managed to get a uk original cheap, only £2 million quid, in a lesser grade. the audio on this german edition is better. but i cannot justify having two. im only playing one, and the prices are nowadays insane. lps should be £5. so this lovely example is offered up to the highest bidder. this is an lp you cannot regret buying.
grading is - cover / disc
ex- with inscription/ ex disc is visually perfect. plays superbly (the uk pressing is slightly noisy even if appearing mint) the cover has an inscription in thin black biro, this reads that the lp was given to a girl in germany (berlin) as a gift in memory of a night of passion. to me this is priceless, i mean most blokes would offer up a simon and garfunkel greatest hits lp at best. here some german intellectual hippie scores a one night stand and leaves this obscure masterpiece with the object of his desire. so both got lucky. NOW this is a LAMINATED sleeve, its perfect, the spine is perfect, and you could probably rub off the biro, because its on plastic laminate. it would  likely leave indentation of the letters, but im sure its easy to erase the ink. i HOPE AND PRAY anyone who wins this JUST LEAVES THE DEDICATION THERE. its what makes this special. its like someone leaving a first edition of byron on a bedside table as a parting gift,or the star of india, and writing on it. its a statement and a memorythat transcends the object itself and the  enormous monetary value. plus, ITS BARELY VISIBLE ANYWAY. the sleeve is very dark, so you only see the letters when you tilt it inthelight. see the photos...so please leave the inscription. anyway gorgeous example with great audio and perfect spine.

ive listed around 60 rare progressive, psych, folk and blues lps on ebay in a big clear out, please click other items if interested to see them all. they are all getting harder to find as the years go by, and prices and demand seems to have gone stratospheric.
all are 1st pressings, original uk editions.
all lps are placed in period/vintage plain paper inner sleeves. any generic polylined inner sleeves have been discarded as they are unsafe and damage lps, as per the policy of many serious collectors.  old pvc lined inners are ageing, chemically unstable,  and sticking to lps, paper inners are the only currently known way to avoid it. vertigo inners are retained and sent outside the covers to avoid damaging contact.
most photos show the fronts, backs, spine and labels so cover condition is fully visible in the photos.
lps listed include sam apple pie, hungry wolf, gerry lockran, mike westbrook love songs, shape of the rain, cressida, idle race, five day week straw people, dransfield, fuschia, rockin horse, gentle giant, and the now very rare aubrey small lp with insert.
grading is mainly visual, all the lps have been fully or partly tested mainly on the run in and first tracks, and any visible defects have been played through to see if theres any audible results.
tested on lenco/cyrus/tannoy 60s/70s equipment.
everything starts at 99p and theres no reserve prices!
POSTAGE - £5 for anywhere in europe and uk. if you bid from usa, japan, australia please wait for an invoice.
postage will be combined and reduced significantly for multiple wins, just wait for an invoice, if ebayers win a few lps postage will be free.
