Description
Offered here is an iconic and historically significant 45 RPM single by Elvis Presley, featuring “That’s All Right” b/w “Blue Moon of Kentucky,” originally released in 1954 on the legendary Sun Records.
It appears that someone has taken a Sun Label and possibly stuck it on top of an RCA label. I can't make out the matrix numbers, though, so I'm not sure.
This record represents ground zero for rock & roll—widely regarded as Elvis Presley’s debut single and one of the most important recordings in American music history. Backed by Scotty Moore (guitar) and Bill Black (bass), and produced by Sam Phillips at Sun Studio in Memphis, this release fused blues, country, and rhythm & blues into something entirely new.
“That’s All Right” (written by Arthur Crudup) and “Blue Moon of Kentucky” (Bill Monroe) together capture the moment rockabilly—and soon rock & roll—was born. Original Sun pressings of this record are among the most coveted artifacts in the entire hobby.
* Crack, but it plays without skipping. Heavy surface wear, scratches, and scuffing throughout
* Label is significantly worn with paper loss, especially on the A-side
* Tape present on outer edge (used historically to reinforce or mark record)
* Playback will include consistent noise; primarily a collector/display copy
Collector Provenance:
This copy shows clear signs of long-term handling and preservation techniques, including edge taping and heavy play wear consistent with DJ or jukebox use. It comes from the private archive of a longtime Detroit crate-digger and DJ, adding a layer of authenticity and lived history.
“A piece of rock history from an epic collection of rare 45’s, filled with dj copies and promos of early northern soul, doo-woo, rockabilly, detroit garage and psyche rock.”
Collector Notes:
Even in worn condition, original Sun 209 pressings remain blue-chip collectibles. The combination of historical importance, Elvis’ debut status, and Sun Records pedigree places this among the most sought-after 45s ever produced.
