4th Coming - The Dead Don’t Die Alive Part 1 & 2 – Alpha Records
You are bidding on a mega-rare original pressing of “The Dead Don’t Die Alive” from the 4th Coming released in the 1970s on Hollywood’s Alpha record label. Side A features the vocal version of the song, Side B features the instrumental. The instrumental (Pt. 2) for this was featured by DJ Shadow on the original Funk Spectrum compilation. Tough to say which version is best, the sound is like Funkadelic meeting “Riot” era Sly Stone, mid-tempo, sweet but dark vocally with odd harmonies and odder organ/keyboard sounds. Real nice piece of eccentric soul for the serious collector
Condition: The vinyl has some manufacturing imperfections, which appear to be shared by different copies of this 45 (I ran across several copies of this gem at a spot recently, all of them have these little vinyl divets), but these DO NOT affect the play of the record at all. The vinyl itself is in VG++ condition, little bit of surface noise, but very few marks to speak of. Both sides play clean and true. There is some sticker residue on the label and a small piece of the label that came off when a sticker was removed (visible from picture) on Side A.
