I hate to let this one go, but due to an unfortunate health situation with one of my beloved Cats, I need some help with the Vet bill & it's time to let this Very Rare 45 go... Here's the deal this is AN ORIGINAL RED Wax Pressing on OLD TOWN Records by the 5 Crowns / The Five Crowns. The only release by them on this label. This is OLD TOWN 771. Songs are GOOD LUCK DARLIN' / YOU COULD BE MY LOVE. I purchased this years ago from a family whose father ran a local WNY area Record store. The Book value on this 45 is VERY VERY high somewhere in the range of $2,000 - $4,000... Now we all know that "book value" is a relative term, especially in the Record Business but regardless this 45 is one Rare instance where I can actually use the word RARE and MEAN it! Ok, let's get to the condition... The labels have some wear as seen in scans and rate VG maybe a touch better. The Record itself rates VG- to some folks maybe better others maybe less? I stand behind VG- There are NO WARPS. NO CRACKS. The record does have multiple surface marks and scratches. There is some residue even after a VPI cleaning BUT the 45 Plays all the way thru with no skips. There is surface noise as to be expected from a VG- 45. Side A plays with more noise than Side B. Either way the record does play all the way thru. I am not an Audiophile and I use a Technics Direct Drive and recently put on a new Grado Black needle a week or two ago, so it may play better on your system. I stand behind a SOLID VG-. Regardless, this is EXTREMELY Rare and though it is not mint, if I do not get my Reserve price, I will have to hang to it for a bit longer. The only other copy I have seen turn up was in much worse condition and still got over $300 (check popsike and see for yourself). My reserve is reasonable. Please email me with any questions.
