GRADING

I VISUALLY grade the majority of my records; if a record has some questionable scratches or scuffs, I may PARTIALLY PLAY TEST it at those areas; and on some, I may fully PLAY TEST (if it's an old favorite and time allows). I use the following system to grade, and may use a plus (+) or minus (-) symbol if a record falls in between two grades (aka I can't make up my mind! :) ):

Mint (M):
Don’t hold your breath waiting for these!

Near Mint (NM):
Jacket, sleeves & inserts/Edges, Spine and Opening - should have no creases, folds, seam splits, cut outs or any other similar defect, and may have only the most minor sign of wear.
Vinyl & Labels - should look unplayed with light scuffs at the most.No writing or stickers on labels.

Excellent (EXC):
Jacket, sleeves & inserts - may have minor general storage/ring wear; a cut out may be present; very minor creases; slight aging.
Edges, Spine and Opening- may have minimal seam/paper splitting and some light corner bumping.
Vinyl - some signs of being handled and played with light sleeve scuffs and minimal cosmetic scratches, but none that should cause jumps or skips, or excessive popping/crackling.
Labels - may have slight wear and spindle marks, but barely noticeable; may have a name neatly written or a small sticker.

Very Good (VG):
Jacket, sleeves & inserts - should be clean, but slightly more storage/ring wear; yellowing/aging; cut out; minor creases. may have some small writing.
Edges, Spine and Opening - may have some seam/paper splitting and some corner bumping;
Vinyl - may show some wear and dullness including surface scuffs and some light or medium scratches, causing some popping/clicking, but no skips or jumps.
Labels -general rubbing wear and spindle marks; may have some writing or stickers.

Good (G):
Jacket, sleeves & inserts - noticeable ring wear, rubbing and aging; may be writing or sticker(s); cut out; but most of the cover should still be in good condition
Edges, Spine and Opening - There may be significant seam/paper splitting and some separation of the sleeve panels from each other; significant edge wear & corner bumping.
Vinyl - may show moderate to heavy play wear including surface scuffs and some light or medium scratches, causing moderate popping/clicking, and a possible skip or jump on the record, but not likely.
Labels - noticeable wear and spindle marks, writing or stickers

Fair (F):
Jacket, sleeves & inserts - Rough!
Edges, Spine and Opening- Rough!
Vinyl - may show heavy play wear including moderate to heavy scratches, moderate to heavy popping/clicking and possible skips or jumps on the record. Possible warping
Labels - noticeable wear, spindle marks and soiling; writing or stickers; may have a tears, rips or wrinkling
