578. 5 VINTAGE HOME RECORDINGS OR ACETATES ~ GROUP INCLUDES BING CROSBY WOODBURY SHOW, UD FOLLIES BAND, CATHOLIC YOUTH ORCHESTRA, TOUR GUIDE DIRECTIONS, COUNTRY MUSIC, ETC.
Vintage acetates from various sources, are all amateur recordings, all have labels, and all are playable. Please note that these items all have surface noise, scuffs, scratches, and wear to the labels. This grouping includes:
ACETATE 1: (AUDIODISC RECORDING - UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON VARIETY SHOW, 1961)
The acetate plays at 78 RPM, is in very good condition, and has outside starts. It has one song on each side, presumably from the Variety show (or perhaps a rehearsal). One side has song "Good-Good-Good" with male vocals and the other side is a Latin-flavored tune, titles are marked on labels but hard to read. This transcription disc is acetate on aluminum and measures 8 inches in diameter. It plays with decent volume and light surface noise.
ACETATE 2: (AUDIODISC RECORDING - CYO CATHOLIC YOUTH OF DAYTON ORCHESTRA, 1959)
The acetate is in good plus condition, was recorded at 33 RPM, and has an outside start. It has three cuts of "Collegiate" on one side (all cuts appear identical, all are from live performances) with audience applause at ends of each. The reverse side is unused and the labels are blank. This disc is acetate on aluminum and measures 8 inches in diameter. It plays with decent volume but with surface noise and some blasting in louder passages.
ACETATE 3: (RCA HOME RECORDING - BING CROSBY WOODBURY SHOW, JAN. 8, 1935)
The acetate is in good condition, was recorded at 33 RPM, and has an outside start. It has excerpts from the 1935 show with guest singers on one side and Bing singing two songs on reverse side. Date and song titles are written on labels. This disc is an RCA home recording, seems to be a vinylite record, and it measures 10 inches in diameter. This item plays with moderate surface noise, has groove wear, has tics, and a few stops and starts within the recording.
ACETATE 4: (MIRROR DISC - JEAN HEINZ CINCINNATI, OHIO, SEPT. '43)
The acetate is in good condition with a small edge flake (not near grooves). It was recorded at 78 RPM and has an inside start. It has one short recording of a woman giving directions...odd recording. This disc is a one-sided recording, the back side is unused. It is an acetate on cardboard recording and measures 8 inches in diameter. It starts off with loud surface noise which quiets by end of disc.
ACETATE 5: (TONEX HOME RECORDING - SINGER AND COUNTRY MUSIC, UNDATED)
The acetate is in fair-to-poor condition, was recorded at 78 RPM and has an outside start. It has female country singer with band on one side (unknown tune) and unknown country singer with band on reverse side. This disc is an acetate on cardboard recording and measures 8 inches in diameter. This item plays with a lot of surface noise and tics, but the singers and country music backings can be heard.
