Original 1951 US 78 rpm pressing on Chess.
In March 1951, Sam Phillips (of Sun Records fame) recorded several songs by Ike Turner's band in Memphis.
The recordings where passed on to Chicagos' Chess Records for release. The songs (most notably session mate Rocket 88), released by Chess as by Jackie Brenston & His Delta Cats, have been referred to as the "first" Rock & Roll songs by many. Of course many pre-war Blues recordings can make that claim first, but it's historical and even more so great music nontheless.
