Description
Up for auction is an extremely rare, original, collection of records used to promote several of the films of Lee Marvin and sent to radio stations to be played during commercial breaks on the air in the 1960s & 70s. This is an amazing assortment of promotional 45s (and one extra large LP played at 33 1/3rd). The records are all one-sided consist of:
1) Ship of Fools (1965) this is the one LP and the cuts are 1-2: 60 seconds. Cuts 3-4: 30 seconds. Cuts 5-7: 10 seconds. Cut 8 designated 'teenage,' is hilarious and most be heard to be believed. There are now dialog cuts or music cues as in the other cuts but 2 comedy actors talking about the film and how it's not for teens since it has no beach parties, etc. VERY funny! 2) The Professionals (1966-Columbia), combo with In Cold Blood (1967): The 2 Richard Brooks films are advertised together a dual release in 3 cuts lasting a minute, 30 seconds, and ten seconds. 3) Sergeant Ryker (1968-Universal): On rare red vynyl 4 cuts (2@ 1 minute long, 2 @ 30 seconds) promoting the film released in theaters that wast made for TV a few years earlier. 4) Paramount single release of Lee Marvin singing Wanderin Star, b/ w Clint Eastwood singing I Talk to the Trees, both from Paint Your Wagon in 1969. Believe it or not, Marvin's single of this knocked The Beatles out of 1st place in the UK! 5) Pocket Money (1972-First Artist) 2 cuts: 1 minute and another 30 seconds featuring dialog and Carole King's song Gotta Keep On Movin'. 6) Emperor of the North Pole (1973-20th Century-Fox) 1 cut at a minute and another at 30 seconds featuring music, dialogue, and bone-crunching sound effects. 7) Shout at the Devil (1976-AIP) Also 2 cuts at a minute in length and 30 seconds featuring music and Marvin and Roger Moore. All 7 records are still very playable and each come with an appropriate sized sleeve for storage.
