Description
For sale is this wonderful and complete set of CHARLIE PARKER ON DIAL VOLUMES 1-6 on Spotlite Records 1970 in great condition. These records are a complete set of the Spotlite LP re-ssues of Charlie Parker's shellac recordings for the Dial label made in 1946-47. They have been an essential part of every serious Jazz aficionado's collection since they were first released in 1970.
These copies are from the archive of recently deceased Jazz critic some of whose records I was fortunate to acquire. I will be listing a large number of other Parker records from the same source in the coming days as well as some other great Jazz titles. Some of them were review copies and factory samples and all seem to date from the 60s and early 70s. If you're interested why not have a look at my other listings? Condition overall is excellent. The gradings are based on thorough visual inspection and brief play testing.*
Sleeves: Volume 1 is VG+. This sleeve is unlaminated and therefore shows light signs of handling and wear. Volumes 2-6 are all graded EX. These sleeves are all laminated front and back and are all clean and glossy with little wear. They all have slight separation of the lamination adjacent to the spine. Volume 6 has corners that have been knocked a bit otherwise all surfaces, edges, corners and spines are great.
Discs: all graded EX and NM. They are all dark and lustrous with no significant marks. Under very harsh light all have a few very light paper extraction marks but nothing worse. Overall all six discs are in truly excellent playing condition.
*Please note: Grading vinyl is a highly subjective thing. For this reason I have given a detailed description of all the flaws I was able to see or hear. I am not a professional. I am just selling a small number of records. I have given an honest appraisal based on careful visual inspection and play testing. I do try to describe all significant faults and where possible photograph them and I certainly won't intentionally hide anything. Please read the description carefully, look at the pictures and make your own mind up. The grading scale I have used goes from G to NM with VG+ as par. In other words: Good (G), Very Good (VG), Very Good+ (VG+), Excellent (EX) and Near Mint (NM). Anything better than that would be Mint and would be listed as new. Anything worse than Good I probably wouldn't be selling.
