IT MAY BE THE GROUP'S PHILLES HITS THAT ARE THE MORE FAMOUS (PARTICULARLY "HE'S A REBEL", "DA DOO RON RON" AND "THEN HE KISSED ME"), BUT IT'S THE NONE HITS THAT FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS (BOTH ISSUED AND UNISSUED) THAT SOUL DEVOTEES GO FOR; THIS WAS THE GROUP'S FIRST UNITED ARTIST SINGLE AFTER LEAVING THE CLUTCHES OF SPECTOR, AND WHILE IT RETAINS MUCH OF THE FEEL OF THE EARLIER HITS, ARRANGER CHARLIE CALELLO GIVES THE TRACK ENOUGH OOMPH TO SHOW THAT THE CRYSTALS DIDN'T NEED THE POWER OF THE SPECTOR HIT MACHINE AT ALL
