Description
Issue 93 of Soul Up North is out NOW!
ALL MY SALES ARE ALWAYS PLAY-GRADED
AND NOT JUST GIVEN A VISUAL ONCE-OVER
ALL THE ITEMS I AM SELLING COME FROM FORTY YEARS OF COLLECTING SOUL
THERE WILL BE SOME REAL GEMS, SO MAKE SURE YOU KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN
SOME OF MY LISTINGS CARRY 'BORROWED' SOUND CLIPS BENEATH THE TITLE
ALL MY ITEMS START AT AROUND A TENTH OF THE CURRENT BOOK VALUE
SOME FROM AS LITTLE AS 30p
60s HOLLYWOOD NORTHERN SOUL/R&B/MOD
ORIGINAL U.S. PROMO
EARLY DANCER FROM THE BASKETBALL PLAYER TURNED SINGER
"ROSEY" GRIER ALSO WENT ON TO BECOME A FAMILIAR BLACK MOVIE STAR IN HIS VARIED CAREER, AND IF THAT WEREN'T ENOUGH HE LATER JOINED THE PROTESTANT MINISTRY
THE TOP-SIDE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN RECORDED BY LITTLE JOEY & THE FLIPS (CAMEO), BUT IT'S ROSEY'S ANSWER TO "MOCKINGBIRD" BY INEZ & CHARLIE FOXX THAT DOES IT FOR ME
BOTH SIDES WERE WRITTEN BY RUDY CLARK, WITH THE FLIP BEING A MORE UPTEMPO MOD MOVER; IT'S HARD TO VISUALISE BOBBY DARIN CUTTING IT FIRST - BUT AMAZINGLY HE DID!
GRIER'S NEXT NEXT RIC SINGLE WAS THE VERY WELL-KNOWN "IN MY TENEMENT"
ROOSEVELT GRIER
"FOOL, FOOL, FOOL"
