Record 1 - WHEN YOU CRY, YOU CRY ALONE // I'M SINGING THE BLUES ; 1945 King Rec. 519 ; B side has a scratch! Solid play with SHH heard but music prevails, B side has pops over the scratched lines but still plays solid good G
Record 2 - MISSOURI // GET YOURSELF A RED HEAD ; 1946 King Rec. 540 ; very used, looks like dust settled in so SHH sound is very present but music still enjoyable G
Record 3 - KENTUCKY // HILLBILLY JUMP ; King Rec. 698 ; [I really enjoyed these 2 songs like nuthin' else!] Very satisfactory play, minimal ticks. VG
Record 4 - BLOODSHOT EYES // I WAS SATISFIED //; 1950 King Rec. 828 ; Another 2 great songs, wow! Solid good play with some SHHH sound G+

ARTIST: - Herbert Clayton Penny (September 18, 1918 – April 17, 1992) was an accomplished banjo player and practitioner of Western swing. He worked as a comedian best known for his backwoods character "That Plain Ol' Country Boy" on TV with Spade Cooley. He was married to country singer Sue Thompson from 1953-63. Penny had three hits on the Billboard Country Singles chart, "Steel Guitar Stomp" (1946) an instrumental featuring both Noel Boggs on steel guitar and guitarist Merle Travis, who produced the recording, the slightly risque' "Get Yourself a Red Head" (1946), and his own composition "Bloodshot Eyes" (1950). A lifelong fan of jazz, Penny recorded "Hillbilly Be-Bop" for King Records in 1949. It was one of the first western swing numbers to incorporate the then-modern jazz style known as bebop.CONDITION: VINYL: shellac all used and some sides were very dusty. Cleaned from dust, but if cleaned better should produce cleaner sound and prevent skips.
SOUND: I played each record. They all play solid, background noise is present! Orchestra dominates the sound if recorded louder, but quiet parts have some sh and tick sounds heard! OVERALL SOLID PLAY for 78 rpm standards - G+ to VG
COVER JACKET: 2 Original old KING Records and few good generic sleeve called recordvelope. Good condition. VG
SHELLAC TENDS TO BREAK VERY EASILY! Always take in with 2 hands when placing it!
