Description
This lot contains seven 10-inch 78 RPM records by Glenn Miller and his Orchestra, most of them on the Victor or RCA Victor label. They all showed up for the first picture, then they are shown individually, both sides, in the following order. Tracks are instrumental unless a vocalist is stated.
Victor # 27894 -- "Knit One, Purl Two" (vocal by Marion Hutton and the Modernaires) and "Lullaby of the Rain" (vocal by Ray Eberle and the Modernaires).
Victor # 27879 -- "Sweet Eloise" (vocal by Ray Eberle and the Modernaires) and "Sleep Song" (vocal by Ray Eberle and the Modernaires).
Victor # 27935 -- "Sereade in Blue" (vocal by Ray Eberle and the Modernaires) and "That's Sabotage" (vocal by Marion Hutton).
RCA Victor # 27879 -- "Rhapsody in Blue" and "Along the Santa Fe Trail" (vocal by Ray Eberle).
RCA Victor # 42-0035 (in the "Collector's Issue" series) -- "Juke Box Saturday Night" (vocal by Marion Hutton, Tex Beneke and the Modernaires) and "That Old Black Magic" (vocal by Skip Nelson and the Modernaires).
Decca # 25075 -- "Peg o' My Heart" and "Moonlight Bay" (vocal by "vocal ensemble").
Bluebird # B-11230 -- "I Know Why" (vocal by Paula Kelly and the Four Modernaires) and "Chattanooga Choo Choo" (vocal by Tex Beneke and the Four Modernaires).
They could all use a good cleaning, but are otherwise in lightly to moderately played condition, most of them still relatively shiny, but with varying degrees of visible surface wear, including some dull patches and a few troublesome looking scratches and needle gouges. The condition issues worthy of listing separately include forward jumps on "Knit One, Purl One" and "Serenade in Blue."
Otherwise, they all played through without skipping or repeating on my Audio-Technica turntable, and with mostly just typical light to negligible background noise, but including some scattered pops and clicks and passages of ticking. Because of variations in tracking ability, filtering technology and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well they will play on your equipment. Please also check the pictures for any label damage, including inscriptions and stickers.
