Description

This  7" Improved Berliner Gram-O-Phone record has the EARLY LABEL with gold scroll lettering and special font for the title.

The record is dark brown and was made by  E. Berliner, Montreal, Canada.

It has the center brass grommet. The back of the disc is flat.

#748 Selections from the Mikado played by THE LONDON MUNICIPAL BAND

Condition: Excellent condition (for a Berliner of this age).

After a rough start (few seconds) the disc plays loud and clear from beginning to end (no skipping).

It has low background noise. The material from wich this disc is made is different from the one of  the others 7" Berliners of the same period.

It is more shiny (see pictures) and deliver less background noise. Of course, it depends of the condition, but on this one the sound of  the instruments is clear and the noise is low.

That said, don't expect high fidelity. As early  Berliners, it has an irregular, imperfect surface and shows little signs of wear.

The label is a little off center, this is visible when looking around the brass grommet.

Music: although the excerpts are from an opera, what you hear on the disc is good rythmic band music.
