Description

For your consideration, seven original 16-inch acetate transcription discs containing partial episodes of The Lone Ranger and The Green Hornet radio shows, as well as Dorthy Dix and a performance by the Navy Band. These all have labels marked "WXYZ" radio in Detroit, which was the station that created and produced the original Lone Ranger and Green Hornet. The labels have "American Broadcasting Company Inc." printed on them, and then "WXYZ" is type-written on the label with the rest of the program information. WXYZ was ABC-owned during the time these records were cut. 33 rpm, played inside-out. This lot includes:

I don't grade records and I don't think it applies in this case. They are in reasonable condition for 60-something year-old acetates. As you can see in the pictures, some of them have acetate mold. I played a little but it's very hard to hear well and those records will need a good cleaning and drying before they are played through. The ones without mold play very well, but I didn't play them all the way through so there could be a skip or something that I'm not aware of. The generic sleeves in ok condition. Please keep in mind that you'd need a large record player in order to actually play these; most only accommodate 12" records. I have some other Lone Ranger/other program transcriptions that I'll be selling soon, but apart from the other lots currently listed, these are the last of the ABC/WXYZ acetates, and the only ones with Dorthy Dix or the Navy Band.

Items sold as-is so please feel free to ask any and all questions. The shipping price is the actual cost and includes tracking number. Payment or communication is due within 24-hours of auction end. If you need more time to pay, or if you want to wait to bid on the other records before paying a combined invoice, that is fine but you must contact me and let me know. Please don't leave me wondering if you're going to pay or ditch. Good luck and happy bidding.
