Last year, in 2023, we celebrated FIFTY years since the release of Dr John's album titled 'In the Right Place'. Dr. John, of course, was royalty of New Orleans music. He started performing and recording in the late 50s, and continued to do so until nearly the end. He has appeared on numerous albums for other artists, played piano on musician's tours, wrote songs, produced, sang, released many solo albums, the list goes on and on. Truly one of the most influential, productive, and innovative musical artists of our lifetime...

When 'In the Right Place' was released, it came out in a special three panel gatefold edition. It folds out to some wild artwork! This gave us the hits "Right Place Wrong Time" and "Such a Night". The amazing piano playing, the raspy voice, and the funky style was all quintessential New Orleans music! Dr John had New Orleans funk pioneers The Meters as his backing band on here, and the LP is produced by Allen Toussaint, another New Orleans music legend! The good doctor is represented here today with that funk, blues, jazz, and swamp pop masterpiece on a vinyl record. And in amazing condition! The vinyl is nearly flawless, and in beautiful shape. Shiny and clean, and the jacket looks incredible, too! We're still mourning the passing of Dr. John, who we lost in 2019. (RIP Mr. Rebennack. You helped define New Orleans music, and created some of the best art that was ever made. I was lucky enough to see you several times in my lifetime, and each time was a fun show to attend. You are missed!)

Next up is the band ELO (Electric Light Orchestra), and their eighth studio album called 'Discovery'. It features the classic lineup of Jeff Lynne (founder and leader, lead singer and guitarist, as well as vocal arranger, and producer), drummer and backing vocalist Bev Bevan, piano player, keyboardist, and backing vocalist Richard Tandy, and Kelly Groucutt. Groucutt played bass, did background vocals, but also sang some lead vocals on a few songs. He passed away in 2009. (RIP Kelly. You were a great musician who was an awesome part of an amazingly talented band, and you are missed!)

ELO's vinyl looks really, really good, with only one or two very light surface marks that I can see. No scratches, gouges, or scuffs. Jacket also looking fantastic, and has a little bit of shelf-wear on it, mainly on the corners and a bit on the back cover. The artwork, front and back, is pretty wild, and the colors pop out at you!

Last we have lefendary French electronic, new age, and ambient music artist Jean Micheal Jarre, and his 1976 album 'Oxygene'. Three songs each side, for a total of six parts of the song "Oxygene". The cover's artwork is the earth getting peeled back, revealing a skull underneath! This one is open, but is still in its original factory shrinkwrap. The price tag on it is on the outside of the shrink. The vinyl looks awesome, and is shiny and clean. And of course, the jacket is in near perfect condition, as it's still in the shrink. Only a tiny bit of shelf-wear, mainly on the corners, is visible.

Three great 70s artists, and each one amazing in their way. Drastically different, but still awesome nonetheless! And these are great examples of mind-blowing album cover artwork from many decades ago. Great music doesn't die, it just keeps getting re-discovered by each new generation.
