Original 70's pressing...with the rare double sided album information...
A HELDON like no others...although the famed underground spaceriock band touched on the harsh side within their other albums, "STAND BY" is AWESOME HEAVY PSYCH with OVERLOADED DISTORTION GUITAR in tripped out atmospherics ...a master blaster of sonic explosives led by guitarist/electronics guru Richard Pinhas at his most dramatic, utilizing the Crimson formula of Robert Fripp with soaring fluid adventurous techniques amid an array of atmospheric electronics & heavy rhythms and drumming...
Psychotic freak n' roll Heldon at their rockiest and heaviest moments for impulsive, strange and epic spaciousness with a great doses of killer guitar in a spacerock extravaganza. The 14 minute title track ("Stand By") features veritable amazing guitar parts (better than ever before) with a dense flipped-out dimension: aggressive heavy and trance like styles at the same time with driving throbbing rhythms. "Une drole de journée" is avant prog psychedelic weirdness. The long Bolero's series constitutes some of the best moments: gorgeous, obsessed dronescapings in a very dark tone with fascinating electronic "patterns" (for the three first parts). This series is composed as one single track with many variations and different musical ingredients, completely immersive with endlessly haunted electronic atmospheres, nice drum parts, sometimes punctuated by Pinhas' best solo guitar works (for the last parts) A discreet musical scission with previous albums, less electronic and experimental and more orientated to sonic rock improvisations. The most complex Heldon album, entirely original and captivating.
