Record conditon: Excellent ++++

Labels condition: Excellent ++

Not to be confused with The Chi-Lites (who used The Hi-Lites' moniker on their two 1964 Daran singles), this group surfaced ten years later. As far as I'm aware, these Hi-Lites cut only the one tune, which was released on Holland-Dozier-Holland's Invictus set-up, late in 1974. Invictus had switched distributors from Captol to Columbia at the end of 1972, hence the change in numbering system. "That's Love" was written by Keith Barrow, who's own singing career on Jewel and Columbia produced some quality soul during the 70s. It may even be that it's Barrow's falsetto warbling that takes over half way through "That's Love" - although I haven't been able to trace any group line-up. Barrow's life was cut short in 1983, when he became one of the earliest victims of the AIDS virus. Production was handled by Thomas Associates, who also carried out the same duties on Tom Green's excellent "Endless Confusion".

Both sides have full youtube postings (not taken from the copy for sale).

The styrene looks near-mint (visual condition). Both sides play like new (sound quality).

Both labels are immaculate, except for a light degee of bubbling.

Finally, if you want to read further drivel by yours truly, I have started writing a column for Howard Earnshaw's Soul Up North publication, out every three months. The latest edition (#73) will be available soon.

This record has been played on both sides to verify condition, but there's a full money-back guarantee on all my sales, and I'll refund anyone who isn't totally captivated.
