Description

early 1970's, likely the oldest Excelled leather you will find for sale online...

the first thing to notice to show its an earlier jacket is the belt loops all the way around the jacket, this does not have the sewn in belt straps on the waist like most leathers and excelled leathers for sale do. this is the older version which had a normal belt and belt loops all the way around the back, not straps sewn into the side of the jacket. (the original belt is missing but those are fairly easy to get a new one if you feel you want one, most shoe repair shops can supply this type of belt, they can make you one, or if you have a proper leather store, if not thrift stores.

also the bottom rocker panel, that the back belt loops are on, notice that panel is much taller than most other excelled, it goes up past the lower back.

the other things to notice on this jacket showing its vintage is the snaps, they all have the eagle excelled logo stamped into the metal rather than plain metal snaps.

as well the EMAR brand main zipper and then the pocket zippers dont have the chain pulls they have proper metal pull tabs.

and lastly the excelled tag in the collar is the older tag and logo version than commonly found.

this is the quintessential leather jacket, timeless and crosses all genres. for me its pure punk rock, my roots, but it crosses over to all types of scenes.

part of the reason though this is the text book "leather" jacket is because its a proper vintage jacket, bought before the days you could just walk into any mall, to the "punk" store and buy your punk clothes, back before the days you could buy pre-studded pre-painted "punk" leather jackets (lame), back before the days you could buy jackets that look like this from a distance but when you get up close you see they are CRAP quality, cheap leather, cheap zippers, cheap construction, just pure garbage found at the local mall. (and this jacket in-particular doesnt just predate "punk" stores but it actually pre-dates punk itself which is even cooler)

and a true sign of quality is when a jacket this old still is in perfect working condition, all buttons, zippers, hardware all work, all pockets intact, lining intact. overall excellent vintage condition.

also a beautiful patina on this. its on the whole jacket, the front, back, sleeves, pockets, its the kind of patina that takes a lifetime to achieve. there's something wonderful about a used leather, just looks respectable, a vintage leather, there's nothing else like it. it looks vintage but not worn out, its perfect. it has some minor surface "cracking" in the leather on the back shoulder area but again its minor. the overall condition for its age and miles is excellent.

plain and simple a respectable proper leather.

a buy now listing, wait to long to decide and someone else will get it.
