Description

Offered is 78 Quarterly magazine, No. 12, which despite promises of

continuing issues, turned out to be the final one, I believe.

Those who subscribed to these terrific 8.5" x 11" issues (this one has

115 pages) found truly fascinating articles and photos dealing

exclusively with old 78s, with the focus on Jazz, Blues, and Country

from the late 20's and early 30's.

The segment in these 78Q magazines which drew the most interest

(and controversy!) was the "Rarest 78's" articles, in which a handful

of very advanced collectors of rare Jazz & Blues records gave their

opinions and estimates on the number of "known copies" of the super

rarities. This issue has the rarest records beginning with the letter W

through Z. Check and see if you have any of these rarities in your own

collection.

This issue has a listing and additional info on Gennett's mystery label,

the rare Superior 300 series.

In addition, there are segments on long lost Paramount photos, Ma

Rainey & Her Jazz Hounds, and Marshall Owens, as well as photos of

Paramount labels of which only 1 or 2 copies are known to exist-mind

boggling stuff!

This particular magazine is in excellent condition, no page tearing or

writing. I think it was the only issue to feature a binding, as opposed

to staples.
