78 RPM records- (NATURE OF THE BEAST)
ALL 78 rpm records have some surface noise...it's the nature of the beast. If you don't care for the "analog" sound, perhaps 78 rpm records aren't for you. I grade these records by how much surface noise they have, not by whether they have any. Please be aware of the difference and bid accordingly. Furthermore, they are heavy and brittle (compared to a vinyl record) and consequently they break easily if not handled correctly; shipping them is much more difficult than shipping a vinyl record, so we attempt to pack them heavily enough to survive the USPS experience. However, if they arrive damaged, you must take it up with your local Post Office. They are not replaceable, only your money is. By the Post Office.
GRADING- (78 RPM records)
VG++ either it wasn't played much or was well cared for or both.
VG+ not much surface noise, relatively speaking, quite enjoyable to listen to, even for a novice.
VG surface noise evident, but not obnoxious at all to the 78 rpm record afficionado.
VG- surface noise may compete with the music, but ultimately loses...music wins.
G surface noise a definite factor, if the record's a must have, hard to find or perhaps a gift from one of your kids, you'll live with it.
G- the last one in existence or perhaps, you're one of those rare individuals who likes surface noise.
P I didn't list it, you didn't buy it and so the issue is moot.
BY THE WAY...TRY CLEANING IT FIRST! Do not use alcohol based products. Use soap and water or just water.
