Description
78 RPM - vintage radio transcription disks - 3 12" Audiodisc recordings - from KMOX, St. Louis, Al Bland, Earl Snooks, Skeets and Frankie. 1940s AM radio broadcasts on Audiodisc acetate over aluminum core. Note: the first side is recorded outside to center where all other sides are recorded from the center out. Acetate coating is solid on all three records. The first record has a clip from Snooks indicating a test for the Columbia Broadcast Network. This is great early radio broadcast history and the Snooks clip is a one of a kind.
First disk - several partial cuts from shows plus a short 33 1/3 recorded cut from Earl Snooks testing the process - you can hear it here. The back side of that record has a complete Skeets and Frankie song - When I Lost You - listen to a short cut here. Record is E- condition, scuffs and scrapes, light scratches, played thru on my Dual 1218 turntable, no skips. Has one small edgie chip.
Second disk - part of an original episode apparently recorded shortly after Al Bland moved to KMOX in St. Louis. This seems to be around Christmas as Gus shows up looking like Santa and suggests Gus should get a big raise - listen to it here. The back side continues and has an interview with Earl Snooks, recording engineer. Record is in G+ conditions with scuffs and scrapes and at least 4 skips near the beginning (center) of first side.
Third disk - An episode about women joining the WPU union which seems to be made up of 5 or 6 fellows from the station. Here is a clip and here is another clip. Record is in E condition, cleanest of the set with light scruffs and scratches, played thru on my Dual 1218 turntable, no skips.
My grading scale is not complicated. Mint (M, M-) means like new with only the slightest of scuffing. Excellent (E, E+, E-) means minor scuffs, scrapes, label wear, light scratches that do not affect the play. Good (G, G+, G-) means scuffing, scraping, scratches, acceptable playing with noticible noise. I try not to sell records that are warped or that skip unless noted. These are records I have picked up while expanding my own record collection.
I pack very carefully with cardboard reinforcement, bubble wrap and sturdy boxes. I combine shipping on multiple purchases where possible. Please use shipping calculator to determine shipping charges to your location.
