For your consideration is a rare vintage 10 inch 78 rpm record entitled Rough Riders In Charge Up San Juan Hill on the scarce Aretino label. A number of phonograph companies in Chicago would sell special phonographs where you could get the phonograph for very cheap, but you'd only be able to use records with odd spindle holes which specifically fit the machine they were selling, which only they made, which would cost more. Customers would retaliate by drilling larger holes into standard records. Aretino, in its ambition and greed, then countered by making their spindle hole so large as to make it impossible to drill out a hole on a normal record large enough to be fit onto their Aretino machine without entirely removing the label and risk breaking the record in the process. Needless to say these were not big sellers and are interesting collectors items these days. Neat also historical re-enactment disc. Cool!

All 78 rpm records, vinyl or shellac, will be shipped sandwiched between either thick cardboard or some spare 78 rpm discs to provide substantial reinforcement for uneven pressure placed on a package during shipment. The record sandwich is then suspended in packing peanuts on all sides. Packing peanuts are the optimal durable memory material as they will insulate your item against any acute forces such as a fall or any type of blow and unlike bubble wrap will not pop and lose their shape if subjected to a strong force.
