78 rpm- Al Bowlly vocal with Ray Noble Orchestra on Victor 24700. Midnight, the Stars and You/ An Hour Ago This Minute. Record is in V+/E- condition EXCEPT for 2 grooves on A side which are loud and distorted near the beginning- no affect on vocal...Bowlly sings on both sides. This is the rare and most desirable of the 30s records as the version of A was used in the Stanley Kubrick film The Shining, with Jack Nicholson and Shelly Duvall, the film based on the Stephen King book
Records came from a well cared for, very clean collection of British dance/jazz bands. Of course Al Bowlly was one of the great voices of 20th century popular music in the 1930s. Ray Noble and Lew Stone both had top dance/jazz bands with creative arrangements.
