78 rpm RARE 1963 ROCKABILLY GARAGE Acetate Demo - BARRY WILSON and the CAMELOTS
Audiodisc Acetate, not numbered, 78 RPM
Record is in V++ condition, plays quite nicely. Labels are good, hand written.

Two Great Songs performed by an EXCELLENT GARAGE ROCKABILLY group. Great Guitar Breaks on both sides.
I tracked down Barry Wilson, the leader and songwriter of the group, and asked him about this record. He told me that this 78 RPM acetate was one of several demos the band recorded in the early 1960s. They took their group name from the club that hired them for their first paid gigs. These two tunes caught the attention of someone at a national label, Dot Records. Dot decided to record the band and released these two great tunes on a 45 RPM single (Dot 45-16462) in March, 1963. The credit on the Dot label is BARRY WILSON and the CAMELOTS. "The Bug", which is the name of a dance, actually became a minor hit. The record even got a brief writeup in Billboard in September, 1963. (see scan of clipping)
