A rare historical recording of the Royal Garrison Artillery GAS SHELL BOMBARDMENT 12-inch, one-sided 78rpm .. HMV 09308 - (British HMV) "Actual Record Taken On The Front Line - France near Lille - Nov. 1918" This is the only recording ever made of an actual engagement during World War I .. the recording of the artillery battle was made in a ruined farmhouse outside Lille, France, not far from the Belgian border. . a unique piece of history.. The record was never issued in the U.S. Two label variations exist for this rare record; one listing Nov.1918 as the date, the other as Oct.1918 .. the actual date of the recording was October 9, 1918 .. just a month before the end of the war.. The blank reverse has the "His Master's Voice" logo impressed (see photo) Record is in E .. Excellent condition. A very nice copy of this rarity.
