78RPM 12" Columbia A5572 Joan Sawyer's Persian Garden Orchestra by Dan Kildare, Bregeiro (Rio Brazilian Maxixe) / Joan Waltz - Hesitation V-

V-  see my 8 photos  This extremely rare circa 1914 12" 78 is in a sort of rough V-  this has some fairly moderate flaws I'll speak of --just to say most of the flaws described here--will all react differently to different players and float arms and the cartridge, Start with the Bergeiro side. This has I believe white paint on the edge 4pm, thats non feelable by touch, a just feelable 1/2 inch scratch at 5-6pm near start, the white paint spot at 3pm looks farily benign and appears it will not affect play and at 10pm in middle is what looks like a repaired dig-- its just feelable, possibly will click  some depending on the player. That repaired dig is the worst flaw on the side--but without the repair I can tell it would be much deeper. That dig may do nothing--again depending on the player--I will be reporting back here with a play grade with our RPG GE vintage 1950s cartridge (thats the best) according to my expert who has been playing 78s for 75 years (no joke)--in a few days Ill give a play grade (we played the Bregeiro side with our GE RPG and it played like a V- it handled the spots including the repaired dig fine--no jumps or losing tracks  just an old 78--thats the best player in the world though for handling 78s--should be fine though on most players) .  The Joan Waltz side is a clean dirty looking V to V- with nothing notable wrong except a dirty looking wear on this and this has been washed--I see nothing even worth noting about the Joan side--just average 78 stuff on that. History: Joan Sawyer (renowned pre WW1 exhibition dancer--danced with Rudolph Valentino before he got famous) is an interesting character to say the least -involved in a love affair that ended in a murder, her African American band leader on this record- Dan Kildare (very talented -I guess) committed a double murder / suicide, a few years after this recording. Joan wanted an all black or African-American band for whatever reason, which really was groundbreaking in 1914 because she was engineering-new forms of music( I am not sure what kind of music is on this record--just to say its good) treading/trending near Jazz music before there was Jazz music--with the band on this recording, Very interesting stuff to read about. Anyway this is a extremely rare record with a huge cult following--the music is historic in its nature. You can listen to the Bergeiro side on the internet--You tube etc.--now finding a real original copy of this is something else entirely--THIS IS IT --I doubt you will see another one and if you do--it may be gone before you get a chance to purchase it  --I have no real idea how to value this (I believe its really, really rare--by all factors I look at when selling 78s)-- my expertise on selling 78s records (I sell a 1000 a year or so)--this great giant 12" 78 I am throwing a price on and the best offers--will see what those do--maybe nobody wants this, and I am all wet  -I have NO CLUE on this one, just know I won't go cheap on it  -so good luck.
