EPA535 RCA Victor 7" EP JAZZ 45rpm Shorty Rogers and his Orchestra
includes MAYNARD FERGUSON
from the Columbia film HOT BLOOD (changed to The Wild One before release of movie)
Below is more information that I found regarding the recording and release of the movie. IMDb confirms that "Hot Blood" was one of the working titles of the movie. Maynard is not credited on the back of the record jacket.
The Movie "The Wild One" was originally entitled "Hot Blood." The studio decided at the last minute that this title was too inflammatory, so they changed the title to "The Wild One." However, in the meantime, a small number of 45 EPs got released for this movie with the title "Hot Blood." The studio recalled all they could get their hands on, but a few escaped into collector hands. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE RARE EPs WITH THE TITLE "HOT BLOOD"!!! This picture cover 45 EP includes the tunes Blues for Brando, Chino, The Wild One, and Windswept, from the movie starring Marlon Brando. Great cover art! Great jazz! Recorded 7/14/53. This is one of Maynard's earliest movie soundtracks.
Condition:
Jacket has some rubbing on cover and corners with some staining on back from handling and shelf wear. Front covers has good bright colors. Seams are tight with no splits. There is some writing on the upper back in ink (something about Jan 13, 1954 Downbeat magazine) and something in pencil. Also a small pencil circle on back upper left.
Vinyl shows some use but has no scratches. Please review the photos and feel free to ask questions about the condition of this item.
