Description
BRUCKNER SYMPHONY Number 7, as interpreted by OSWALD KABASTA conducting the MUNICH PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA in 1942.
This was performed at the height of Kabasta's powers during the 2nd World War. He was acknowledged to be an exemplar in the interpretation of Bruckner. Kabasta was infamous as a Nazi sympathiser and stripped of his honours and position after the war, he committed suicide in 1946.
12" 78 rpm Original German red/gold Electrola DB 7684-91, recorded 1942. 8 discs in total (a complete set).
This is a very rare Kabasta Recording in fantastic condition. It has been well cared for by a senior member of the oldest gramophone society in the world - the CLPGS (City of London Phonograph and Gramophone Society). The discs appear very clean, with minimal marks. I have played them - function & sound is good with minimal surface noise.
The album itself is old, but I don't think it is an original.
