Vinyl albums of forgotten bands...every decade has them. Celebrated rock & pop bands of the '80s include Duran Duran, R.E.M., Elvis Costello & the Attractions, U2, The Bangles, The Go-Gos, Talking Heads, INXS, Wham!, Depeche Mode, and numerous others. Every one of the aforementioned had some sort of memorable hit. These artists...not so much, and obviously that's why they're forgotten to a large degree. Perhaps a primer is in order.

B. E. TAYLOR GROUP: Hailing from Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, their 1983 single, "Vitamin L", reached No. 66 on the Billboard 100 singles chart. 'Love Won The Fight' is the second of four albums by this band.

THE FOOLS: Massachusetts rock band best known for the party atmosphere of their live performances and tongue-in-cheek original songs, covers and parodies. "Running Scared" (off of the 'Heavy Mental' album) charted #50 on the Hot 100. 'Heavy Mental' is the band's 2nd studio album out of a dozen or so.

FRANKE & THE KNOCKOUTS: New Jersey band fronted by singer/songwriter Franke Previte. Highest charting single was "Sweetheart" at #10 (1981 Billboard Hot 100). 'Below The Belt' was the band's second of three albums.

ROUGH TRADE: Not a great idea naming a band after a much more popular UK '70s/'80s record label. Canadian band fronted by female singer Carole Pope, kinda popular at the time in Canada, virtually unknown in the United States. This album and its follow-up (Shaking The Foundations) charted in the Top Ten in Canada, but nada in the U.S. This is their third (of 6) studio albums.

SHY TALK: From Greater Manchester, UK, originally called Motivation (until Columbia made them change their name to Shy Talk to sign with them), this band is made up of ex-members of the Buzzcocks, Teardrops, Durutti Column and Mothmen. Although the was produced by Procol Harum's Pete Solley, there was no charting action, and no follow-up LPs by this band.

TAXXI: English rock band best known for the song "I'm Leaving". A couple of their songs appeared on the 'Weird Science' and 'The Secret of My Success' movie soundtracks. Second of four studio albums.

VITAMIN Z: English band, formed in 1982 by vocalist Geoff Barradale and bassist Nick Lockwood. Their biggest hit "Burning Flame" charted in the UK and US, but their one other hit in the UK, "Every Time That I See You", did not chart in the US. First of two albums by this band.

WARD BROTHERS: British pop-rock band, who scored a Top 40 hit in the UK with their 1986 single "Cross That Bridge". No chart action in the U.S. First of tweo albums.

WIRE TRAIN: San Francisco band who might be remembered for the minor alternative radio hit "Chamber of Hellos" from the first album ('In A Chamber'). 'Between Two Worlds' is their second of five or six albums.
