9 - NM (exceptionally small scuffs/hairlines/paper imprints - no scratches)
8 - EX (small scratches that should not cause ticks/pops during playback)
7 - VG (bigger scratches that probably will cause ticks/pops during playback)
6 or below: I don't sell these
Note: I generally do not clean records prior to sale so they may have visible dust on them. As a personal rule I tend to buy records that are only rated 8 or more - and have been satisfied 99% of the time. This is the standard I am trying to adhere to in my ratings. I only purchase a 7 if I really, really want the orchestra, conductor or specific piece.
Covers:
10 - Sealed (punchouts or bent corners will be noted)
9 - Exceptionally clean/undamaged cover
8 - Corners crimped or bent and/or punchouts - clean with some fading or dirt spots
7 - tears or cut outs - heavily faded and/or dirty
