One of the stranger albums on Strata East, and a real home-grown effort that features arrangements by Bill Lee (Spike's dad!) Winston's a vocalist with a slightly spiritual kind of sound, and some of the tracks on the record are nice light little ditties with piano by Stanley Cowell, drums by Billy Higgins, flute by Clifford Jordan, and bass by Lee. The least appealing tracks on the album feature a children's chorus (which includes Joy Lee!), and we prefer the cuts in which Winston sings without them – like "Happy Heart", "Love Took The 7:10 Tonight", "Soul Trane", and "Weekend", all of which are vocal renditions of Tadd Dameron tunes.
