Description
This ultra-rare compilation album features live performences at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. Entitled "A Night At The Apollo",it was released in 1956 on Vanguard VRS-9006. Performers include George Kirby,Cole and Atkins,Jackie"Moms"Mabley and the Apollo Band Of The Year featuring jazz trumpeteer Joe Newman.The R&B quartet The Keynoters also belts out "Who Does She Think She Is". Best of all is the amateur show with Leonard Reed as M.C. The Heartbreakers featuring Paul Himmelstein sings a great acapella version "Come Back My Love". This group went on a year later to record for Vik records. This one does not show up much so I am placing a $75.00 reserve. Vinyl is on the original dark red label and grades at a strong vg++ to vg+++ with nice gloss and only a few light scuffs. Cover is vg- with a split all the way across the top border,another split about half way across the bottom border and a smaller split on the left hand border. There is also a number written on the back and soling n the back. Never seen this one listed so have fun bidding. Money back guarantee if not completely satisfied.
